The label 'Mr. Entertainment' is deservedly reserved for the great Sammy Davis Jr., few have come close to that label. Joe Longthorne is the UK's most versatile consumate performer and rightfully shares that grand tradition.
The parallels between Sammy and Joe are numerous. They both began their careers in show business at the age of four, both have an uncanny accuracy for impersonations and both have overcome tremendous hardship in their lifetimes.
Many have likened the experience of seeing Joe perform for the first time to how people reacted to Sammy back in the 50's when he first gained national notoriety. A greatly talented singer, Joe holds his ground against the most acclaimed artists around the world, in fact so much so that his impersonations of them are faultless. Joe's repetoire is endless, the list runs over 100, to name a few; Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Judy Garland, Luciano Pavarotti, Mario Lanza, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, the list is endless. Each voice captures flawlessly the essence of that artist.
Joe began performing in talent shows at the age of four, and by his early teens was beginning to make a name for himself on TV programmes such as Yorkshire Television's Junior Showtime.
In 1981, Joe appeared in the London Weekend TV series Search for a Star, and this led to national recognition. Joe's own TV series was soon to follow. In fact Joe has shared the same stage with many of the world's greatest artists, appearing in Royal Variety Performances and also with Bob Hope at the London Palladium. He has sold out the Albert Hall in London and toured all over the world.
Joe has an army of dedicated fans who follow him wherever he appears. Joe's dedication to his fans, ensures that records and videos are eagerly awaited and are always well received. He has several Platinum Disc winning albums to his name.
Joe truly has earnt the much coveted title: 'Mr Entertainment'.
