Our Mission:
To preserve and honor the legacy of Sammy Davis Junior and his life’s work by fostering the creative advancement of young artists
Primary Initiatives of The Sammy Davis Junior Foundation
1. To foster the creative advancement of young artists through programs such as
a. Scholarships for young artists
b. Financial assistance for school and community based arts programs in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods.
2. To support the growth of organizations and programs that serve young artists using methods that are consistent with the mission and philosophy of The Sammy Davis Junior Foundation and meet the foundations standards of quality.
3. To preserve Sammy Davis Junior memorabilia and work of historical significance.
4. To develop community based facilities that encourage, educate, and support the development of young artists as well as to provide public spaces celebrating the history and contribution of Sammy Davis Junior to the arts.
5. To maximize the use of technology and innovative philanthropic methods in support of young artists.
Foundation Focus:
The Sammy Davis Junior Foundation will support programs for young artists through collaborative relationships of mutual interest with existing organizations as well as through the development of programs delivered directly by the foundation.
The first collaboration of this kind will be with YoungMusician, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower and educate young musicians regardless of financial status or geographic location, thereby facilitating their transition to higher education in universities, schools of music, conservatories, and colleges.
