The Sands Hotel Casino known as "A Place in the Sun" on its famous original marquee opened December 15, 1952 with 200 rooms. Built by Texas gaming entrepreneur and horse breeder Jakie Friedman for $5.5 million, the Las Vegas "Strip" hotel looks back on its history with pride.
With a glorious Entertainment History, much of the Sands' success is attributable to New York producer and Copacabana night club owner Jack Entratter and businessman Carl Cohen, who joined with Friedman to help make the Sands a world-renowned resort destination. |
